Capt. Will Walter, MC-12W Liberty pilot from the 185th Special Operations Squadron, conducts pre-flight checks March 29, 2023, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He and the aircrew arrived to pick up a piece of equipment from an MC-12W that crashed April 27, 2013, near Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. “It’s a solemn moment remembering this crew and the sacrifices they gave to our country,” said Walter. “Being a part of this ISR mission has been a profound thing for me; it’s something exciting and I’m honored to be there and to remember the sacrifices they gave to us.”
