  • Air Force’s Spectrum Management Office officially transfers to ISR and Cyber Effects Operations staff to continue to integrate ‘information warfare’

    Air Force’s Spectrum Management Office joins the Cyberspace Operations and Warfighter Communications Directorate assigned to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Cyber Effects Operations. This is a vital move in a larger plan to support, from a Headquarters Air Force perspective, the synchronization of Information Warfare functions.
  • Air Force update for COVID-19

    In an effort to minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 and to prioritize the health and safety of Department of the Air Force personnel, the following modifications have been made:
  • ACC to conduct experiment testing agility and lead wing concepts during AGILE FLAG 21-1

    Air Combat Command will conduct an experiment known as Agile Flag 21-1 from Oct. 21-29 to test agile combat employment and a new lead wing deployment concept. During Agile Flag 21-1, the 366th Fighter Wing from Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, will test its ability to deploy as a lead Air Expeditionary Wing with a wing-level air staff. The unit will employ mission generation, command and control, and base operating support elements from its main operating base at Tyndall AFB, Florida, while supporting a forward operating base at Hurlburt Field, Florida, and a contingency location at Eglin AFB, Florida.
  • Women’s Health Transition Training offered virtually

    The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Women’s Health Services and the Department of the Air Force’s Women’s Initiative Team collaborated to establish training that provides information on health services available to women who are separating or retiring from the military.
  • Work & Life Balance – Dispelling the Myth!

    Balance can’t always be measured a day or even week at a time. Balance, like resiliency, is measured over the long haul. Part of finding this long-term healthy mindset is acknowledging the fact that the desired work-life balance may be slightly off day to day. Be willing to accept that we strive for “perfection” with the understanding that we may never really obtain it.
  • Department of the Air Force completes first officer promotion board using new categories, selects 1,214 for promotion to O-5

    The 2020 Line of the Air Force (LAF) lieutenant colonel board, which convened May 4-20, is also the first board to transition away from below-the-promotion-zone promotion opportunity while assigning line numbers based on order of merit versus time in grade.
  • Department of the Air Force makes additional updates to dress and appearance regulations

    Following the Department of the Air Force’s initial review, a diverse panel of Total Force Airmen completed a second review of Air Force grooming and appearance guidance in order to enhance inclusiveness while maintaining Department of the Air Force professional standards.
  • Department of the Air Force releases new military tuition assistance approach for FY21

    Department of the Air Force officials announced a $3,750 military tuition assistance cap per fiscal year that will go into effect for college courses beginning Oct. 1.
  • Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey helps civilians voice their opinions

    The FEVS is a government-wide, Office of Personnel Management administered annual survey that Air Force civilian employees have been participating in since 2006. The approximately 100-question survey takes 20-to-30 minutes to complete and is anonymous. The survey includes questions about employees’ work-life, job and organizational satisfaction, commitment, engagement, performance management and communication. It measures employee perceptions of whether their organization is successful.
  • Diversity, inclusion board seeks input from all DOD personnel

    The Department of Defense Board on Diversity and Inclusion will focus on actions to enhance diversity and inclusion and drive a cultural shift to create lasting change in the Defense Department, from recruiting, career track selection and retention; to accessions, assignments, schools and promotions; to military justice and everything in between and beyond. All Defense Department personnel are encouraged to crowdsource feedback on ideas for improving diversity and inclusion via www.milSuite.mil. The closing date for input is Oct. 16.
