U.S. Air Force Capt. Charles Ransom, flight commander of plans and operations, 83rd Network Operations Squadron, poses for an official photo. Ransom gave his life along with nine others April 27, 2011, while on a deployment in Afghanistan. For his actions preceding and during the incident, Ransom was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Force Combat Actions Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, NATO Medal and was posthumously promoted to Major.
