The 688th Cyberspace Wing, headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, is aligned under Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber), Air Combat Command. The wing is the Air Force's premier cyberspace warfighting organization dedicated to delivering actionable intelligence and tactics, techniques, and procedures, deployable warfighter communications, engineering and installation capabilities, defensive cyber operations, and network security operations across the Air Force Information Network enterprise.

Mission: Engineer, build, operate, secure, defend and extend the Air Force cyberspace domain to enable and assure Air Force core missions and the Joint fight.

  • Air Combat Command A6 visits 688th Cyberspace Wing

    The 688th Cyberspace Wing hosted Col. Heather Blackwell, HQ Air Combat Command A6 Director of Cyberspace & Info Dominance Nov. 18, 2021 at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. Blackwell toured multiple Squadrons within the Wing to discuss the transformation of security operations and new levels of partnership. Blackwell, who was a captain in the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron, visited the unit for a mission brief and a dialogue with squadron members on the operations floor. As a parting tradition, Blackwell placed her dog tags with previous captain rank on the Griffin—the Squadron mascot.
  • Air Combat Command transfers SIPRNet mission to the Air Education and Training Command

    In a historical transfer of responsibility, Lt. Col. Traci Sarmiento, 690th Intelligence Support Squadron commander transferred the local Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) mission to the 502nd Communications Squadron commander, Lt. Col. Christopher Waddell, Oct. 29, 2021 at Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The 502nd CS will assume the service and support functions of network and systems hardware infrastructure, project management and engineering, helpdesk and client systems support, and information assurance.
  • 688th Cyberspace Wing spreads cyber, Air Force mission awareness to San Antonio community leaders

    SAN ANTONIO---U.S. Air Force Col. Joshua Rockhill, 688th A/5/8/9 directorate and 26th Cyberspace Operations Group commander raised awareness about the cyberspace and U.S. Air Force mission to a cohort of roughly 75 community leaders participating in the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Leadership San Antonio program, Oct. 8, 2021 at the Radius Center in San Antonio, Texas. Leadership San Antonio hosted a military day as part of the program’s initiative to provide participants with insight from present and future decision-makers in both the public and private sectors in order to prepare them to better to lead San Antonio into the future by using their broader understanding of the diverse community.
  • 688th Cyberspace Systems Support team utilizes selflessness to win Team of the Quarter Award

    SAN ANTONIO – The 688th Cyberspace Wing Systems Support team celebrated the acquisition of the 688th Cyberspace Wing, Large Team of Quarter award on July 30, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. The team received recognition for demonstrating stellar IT networking, establishing Personal Wireless Communication Systems for mobile devices, managing IT equipment, and providing software licensing to support the 688th Cyberspace Wing mission. Along with their celebration, the team also gathered to wish their IT Requirement Supervisor, Tech Sgt. James Swanson, farewell.
  • 688th Cyberspace Wing transfers authority

    The 688th Cyberspace Wing held a change of command ceremony July 1. 2021 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Col. Steven Anderson transferred authority of the 688th Cyberspace Wing to Col. James Hewitt. Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh, the commander of Sixteenth Air force (Air Forces Cyber) presided over the ceremony.
