Colonel JOHANNES C. MOORE

Col. Johannes C. Moore is the Deputy Commander, 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing, headquartered at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. The 70th Wing conducts signals intelligence and cyberspace missions to inform national leaders, combatant commanders, and component commanders and to enable air, space, and cyberspace operation for the Department of Defense. ‘America’s Cryptologic Wing’ also provides installation support services to more than 10,000 Airmen and dependents assigned to Fort Meade. Subordinate groups include the 373d ISR Group, Joint Base Elmendorf- Richardson, Alaska; 543d ISR Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas; 544th ISR Group, Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado; and the 659th ISR Group, 691st ISR Group, and 707th ISR Group at Fort George G. Meade.

Col. Moore was commissioned in 2000 after graduating from Florida International University’s ROTC program. He is both an intelligence and cyberspace officer with experience ranging across all U.S. Air Force core missions: Air and Space Superiority; Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance; Rapid Global Mobility; Global Strike; and Command & Control.

In his previous assignments, he enjoyed an 18-month tour with F-15Es at RAF Lakenheath, UK and a tour with C-130s at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas where he spent two years at the 463rd Operations Support Squadron and one year as the Intelligence Flight Commander at the 29th Weapons Squadron. In 2006, he moved to NATO’s Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy where he served as the HQ Targeting Lead and Chief Geopolitical Analyst. In 2009, he arrived at Barksdale Air Force Base, LA. His positions there included the 608th Air and Space Operations Center Deputy ISR Division Chief and the Eighth Air Force Commander’s Executive Officer. Col Moore was then assigned to Maxwell Air Force Base, AL as a student at Air Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies. Upon graduation, Col Moore was assigned as the Branch Chief for Air Force ISR Strategy at the Pentagon before transitioning to the Strategy Team Chief for the SecAF/CSAF Executive Action Group. He then commanded the 41st Intelligence Squadron at Fort George G. Meade, where he enabled the Cyber National Mission Force to deliver proactive strategies and defend the nation’s critical infrastructure and key resources. After his command assignment, Col Moore was admitted to the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. with a follow-on assignment as Strategic Planner in the Strategy, Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Staff, the Pentagon. In this role, he provided strategic direction, policy guidance, and planning focus to develop and execute the National Military Strategy. Most recently, Colonel Moore the Deputy Chief, Sensor and Data Operations, National Security Agency, where he led operational planning, deployment, and access management for NSA’s worldwide portfolio of midpoint collection.

Col. Moore has deployed to Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, and Iraq to support Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, Iraq to support NATO’s Training Mission-Iraq, and to Kosovo to support NATO’s KFOR Operation JOINT GUARDIAN.
