Chief Master Sergeant Jerome S. Wright is Command Chief, Air Force Technical Applications Center, Patrick Space Force Base, Fla., where he advises the AFTAC wing commander on matters concerning the readiness, utilization, training, morale and welfare of the 1,000-member center and its 14 detachments around the globe who support AFTAC’s international nuclear treaty monitoring activities. AFTAC operates and maintains the United States Atomic Energy Detection System to monitor foreign compliance with various treaties limiting nuclear testing. AFTAC is also the designated U.S. laboratory system that provides technical support to the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency.
Chief Wright was born in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and grew up in Virginia Beach, Va. He entered the Air Force in July 2000, and his background includes various duties in the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Maintenance, Information Operations, All Source Intelligence, and Joint Targeting career fields.
He has deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Unified Protector, and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa.
Prior to assuming his current position, Chief Wright served as the Senior Enlisted Leader of the Cadet Wing at the United States Air Force Academy, providing enlisted counsel to the Commandant on training, education, standards, and personnel matters affecting 4,200 cadets and 236 total force permanent party members.
