Colonel MARK E. BROW Colonel Mark E. Brow is the Commander, Air Force Technical Applications Center, Patrick Space Force Base, Fla. AFTAC operates and maintains the United States Atomic Energy Detection System for Nuclear Surveillance. The focus of AFTAC’s more than 1,800 professionals is to detect special events in the atmosphere, underwater, underground, and in space to determine if they are nuclear and to report them to U.S. senior decision makers. Colonel Brow graduated from Norwich University in 2000 and Wake Forest University in 2002. He earned his commission through Air Force Officer Training School in 2002. Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Brow was the commander of AFTAC’s 709th Surveillance and Analysis Group. He has commanded at the flight and squadron level, including the 526th Intelligence Squadron at Nellis AFB, Nev., and has served as a scientist, an intelligence officer, and a strategist. Prior to his current assignment, he was the Senior Military Assistant to the Presidentially-appointed, Senate-confirmed Undersecretary of War for Intelligence and Security, providing expert military advice and executive support to the Undersecretary in the execution of authority, direction, and control of the Defense Intelligence and Security Enterprise and directing support to the Secretary of War and Director of National Intelligence. Colonel Brow is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and the U.S. Air Force School of Advanced Air and Space Studies. He is also a graduate of and former instructor at the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. He has deployed five times in support of overseas contingency operations.
