Colonel JOHN BERGMANS Colonel John H. Bergmans is the Deputy Commander, 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA. He assists in directing the worldwide intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations of six ISR groups, supporting Combatant Commanders, Combined Forces Air Component Commanders, Numbered Air Force commanders and Coalition Forces. The Wing is a total force enterprise composed of more than 6,000 military, civilian and contractor personnel. In his previous assignments, Colonel Bergmans served in various roles and ISR missions including as an E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (JSTARS) Airborne Intelligence Officer (AIO), an Air Force Distributed Ground Station (DGS) Mission Operations Commander (MOC), Intelligence Weapons Officer (IWO), USAF Weapons School Instructor and Director of Operations (DO) for a threat analysis squadron, and a squadron Commander of a technical training squadron in Air Education and Training Command. Colonel Bergmans’ contingency deployment experience includes tours in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM (2007-2009) in Iraq, Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE in Haiti (2010), Operation ODYSSEY DAWN in Libya (2011) and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan (2011).
