Due to the severe weather and adverse road conditions in and around Joint Base San Antonio, the installation commander will close JBSA for non-emergency personnel on Feb. 16, 2021.

JBSA will reduce non-emergency services and support during this time. All personnel are encouraged to remain off the roads and take proper cold-weather safety precautions. If you must travel, allow plenty of time and drive safely.

“Personnel safety is our priority,” said Brig. Gen. Caroline Miller, the commander of the 502d Air Base Wing and JBSA. “I’m encouraging commanders to work with their employees to balance accomplishing the mission and ensuring personnel safety.”

Emergency Mission Essential Personnel should receive official reporting instructions from their leadership.

Weather and safety leave is authorized. Civilians should work with their supervisor to determine leave or telework as appropriate.

JBSA gate operations will be reduced to weekend hours as depicted in the link below. In addition, Wilson Gate on Fort Sam Houston will remain closed. Current gate information can be found here: https://www.jbsa.mil/Gate-Hours/.

Installation leadership continues to monitor weather conditions to determine additional closures or modified services.
