National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

It began in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week.

At Joint Base San Antonio, a variety of events are planned. To mitigate the risk of COVID-19 exposure, participants and volunteers will be expected to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines at all events.

Donations for JBSA Police Week will be collected for delivery to on-duty officers throughout the week. Police Week signs will be located after the gates at each base and officer appreciation bags will be delivered throughout the week.
