Joint Base Langley-Eustis held its Air Power Over Hampton Roads (APOHR) STEM Day and Open House, May 5-7, 2023. This public outreach event was a rare opportunity for JBLE to thank the local community of Hampton Roads for their support of the military members and their families of JBLE. The 363d Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Wing hosted students from Hampton High School, May 5, 2023, to attend the STEM Day and watch the aerial performance featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, F-22 Demo Team and many more. There were more than 30 schools who participated in the STEM Day, with roughly 2,000 participants in total on Friday. Students were able to visit more than 30 STEM exhibitors, enhancing their exploration into the worlds of science, technology, engineering, and math. This exposure is critical in fostering curiosity, enhancing creativity, and encouraging critical thinking. Some of those exhibits included Virginia Air & Space Center, Mad Science of Hampton Roads, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Civil Air Patrol, NASA eClips and JBLE Youth STEM Trailor. This visit served as a Project Quesada engagement, an Air Combat Command-led program designed to attract and recruit talented students seeking careers in aviation, science, technology, engineering, and math to develop future aviators and leaders.
