The 688th Cyberspace Wing, headquartered at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, is aligned under Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber), Air Combat Command. The wing is the Air Force's premier cyberspace warfighting organization dedicated to delivering actionable intelligence and tactics, techniques, and procedures, deployable warfighter communications, engineering and installation capabilities, defensive cyber operations, and network security operations across the Air Force Information Network enterprise.

Mission: Engineer, build, operate, secure, defend and extend the Air Force cyberspace domain to enable and assure Air Force core missions and the Joint fight.

  • Airman advocates for neurodiversity in the military

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas—A passenger-filled sedan rolled violently against a dirt median, abruptly halted on its roof and blocked oncoming traffic on the interstate. Master Sgt. Shale Norwitz’s duty to protect and serve took precedence. Due to this application of military training and a unique diagnosis, Norwitz safely safely extracted the occupants of the vehicle, led victims away from the wreckage, and redirected the flow of traffic.
  • 688th Cyberspace Wing transfers authority

    The 688th Cyberspace Wing held a change of command ceremony July 1. 2021 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Col. Steven Anderson transferred authority of the 688th Cyberspace Wing to Col. James Hewitt. Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh, the commander of Sixteenth Air force (Air Forces Cyber) presided over the ceremony.

    The 33rd Network Warfare Squadron holds their change of command ceremony June 29, 2021 at the Gateway Club, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Lt. Col. Johnathan French transferred command to Lt. Col. Daniel Kim. Col. Joshua Rockhill presided over the ceremony.
  • 68th Network Warfare Squadron holds change of command ceremony

    The 68th Network Warfare Squadron holds their Change of Command Ceremony June 30. 2021 at the Transport Security Administration Center, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Lt. Col. Russell Dabel transferred command to Lt. Col. Joseph Citro. Col. Joshua Rockhill presided over the ceremony.
  • 690th Cyberspace Operations Group transfers authority

    The 690th Cyberspace Operations Group Commander and 688th Cyberspace Wing A2/A3 Director held their Change of Command Ceremony June 29, 2021 at Arnold Hall, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Col. Kevin Kirsch transferred command to Col. Billy Pope. Col. Steven Anderson, 688th Cyberspace Wing commander presided over the ceremony.
